Abstract

The distribution and diagnostic features of the species belonging to the genus Xanthopimpla Saussure from the southern Western Ghats are discussed. A total of 13 species groups are recorded, of which Cuneata species group is recorded for the first time from the region. Of the 34 species identified, six species are recorded as new to the study area, viz., X. exigua, X. laticepsverrucula, X. nigritarsis, X. sikkimensis and X. clivulus, of which first three are new records to India. Three new subspecies are described with key.
