Abstract

Carpophilus maculatus Murray, 1864, hitherto recorded from Central America, Pacific Islands, Australia, Southeast Asian Islands, Japan, Hongkong and China has currently been found from Kolkata, India. This species is redescribed and compared with the closely related ones.
